iSisters Workforce Training Program

iSisters Technology Mentoring

iSisters is a Canadian charitable organization with a mandate to connect women in need with technology through mentoring by providing access to technology, designing and delivering technology learning programs and enhancing employment opportunities through technological awareness. iSisters use Nortel LearniT video tutorials and resources to support and enhance their learning programs. At the Youville Centre teen mothers create web sites and PowerPoint presentations with the support of Nortel LearniT tutorials. Overall learning outcomes for participants in this program included:

• media literacy

 • website design

• creating digital presentations

• digital imaging

• electronic file management

• project management

• becoming more familiar and comfortable with technology

• ICT (information communication technology) skills that will increase your employability

 

This program has been aligned to the Conference Board of Canada’s Employability Skills 2000

Staff at the center are now able to integrate Nortel LearniT resources into their program independently of Nortel LearniT or iSisters staff. Nortel LearniT resources are accessible 24/7, and are available for free, providing unlimited access to teaching and learning support for educators off all kinds.
