LearniT-TeachiT is excited to remind educators about the availablity of terrific STEM resources through our partnership with the National Institute of Aerospace. All of these resources are free for use and re-use for instructional purposes and most are rich media (images, audio, video) and can be repurposed (edited) by your students for projects and presentations that they create. These resources include:
· The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) is sending back images of the Moon's surface. When it's done, we'll have a more complete map of the Moon's surface than we have of Earth's surface. You can find out more about LRO, and lots of other topics, through NASA eClipsTM (http://www.nasa.gov/education/nasaeclips). These short video segments explore current applications of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM, topics. The programs are produced for targeted audiences: Our World (K-5), Real World (6-8), Launchpad (9-12), and NASA 360 (for the general public).
There are several NASA eClipsTM segments that take a close look at LRO. Check out:
o Our World: The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter or
o Launchpad: LCROSS Mission to Search for Water on the Moon
· That all of the images found at NASA Images (http://www.nasaimages.org/) can be easily added to student multimedia productions just by noting that they are NASA images. LearniT-TeachiT guides you and your students through "Fair Use" and "Copyright" issues with the help of Digital Ethics video tutorials (http://nortellearnit.org/technology/Digital_Ethics/).
· That you can subscribe to receive NASA's Image of the Day (http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/imagegallery/iotd.html) at the NASA Homepage through an RSS feed.
· That all of these digital images and video segments can be embedded into PowerPoint presentations? LearniT-TeachiT offers help through these PowerPoint video tutorials (http://nortellearnit.org/technology/PowerPoint_Presentations/).
